Spanish for Adults

SPANISH BEGINNER 1

Description: Using a balanced instruction approach, learners will understand by listening and speaking, reading and writing basic Spanish. Learners are given frequent opportunities to practice in context-rich, authentic scenarios, as well as direct instruction of Spanish grammar.

Monthly commitment, billed 4 weeks in advance, and students may cancel at any time by letting us know 4 weeks in advance of the date you wish to stop. Mondays from 6:00p.m to 7:30p.m.

SPANISH BEGINNER 2

Description: Using a balanced instruction approach, students will comprehend by listening and speaking, reading and writing, basic Spanish. Learners will have frequent opportunities to practice in context-rich, authentic scenarios, as well as with direct instruction of Spanish grammar. Students will learn how to communicate and make requests during travel when interacting with native-Spanish speakers.

This class is intended for students who have completed Spanish Beginners 1 or a similar class at another institution and are able to communicate basic ideas, personal information, and requests already.

SPANISH INTERMEDIATE 1

DescriptionA thorough, guided exploration of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities. Students expand their ability to understand others in the Spanish language and to express themselves through speaking and writing. Students will learn how to communicate confidently during everyday interactions with native-Spanish speakers when traveling and expand their ability to voice opinions and ideas.

This class is intended for students who have completed Spanish Beginners 1 and 2, or similar classes at another institution.

SPANISH INTERMEDIATE CONVERSATION

Description: In this class, learners will continue to use listening and speaking skills while improving their confidence speaking Spanish in a social environment. This is accomplished through a balanced literacy program that features culturally relevant texts to prompt discussion of authentic communication scenarios.

This class is intended for students who’ve attended Spanish classes in school or other educational programs but would like more practice in a supportive, social arena. Classes run from October to June. Students may join anytime during the school year, subject to available space.

SPANISH ADVANCED 1

Description: A thorough, guided exploration of communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities. Students expand their ability to understand others in the Spanish language and to express themselves through speaking and writing.

Learners are introduced to complex texts on a variety of subjects applying appropriate grammatical structures to communicate opinions and arguments with spontaneity and increasing fluency.

SPANISH ADVANCED CONVERSATION

Description: In this class, learners will continue to use their advanced listening and speaking skills while improving their confidence speaking Spanish in a social environment. This is accomplished through a balanced literacy program that features culturally relevant texts to prompt discussion of authentic communication scenarios.

This class is intended for students who consider themselves to be near fluency, but would like to practice and engage with other students to foster confidence in speaking. Classes run from October to September. Students may join anytime during the year, subject to available space.
