It’s not just travel that broadens the mind …


Academia offers classes for children and adults in a range of language, social, and cultural studies topics. Options include:

After-School Programs for River Forest and Oak Park Elementary Schools

  • Optional daily Spanish or Mandarin class included.
  • Transport from Oak Park schools north of the freeway provided.
  • End of day “to the home” drop-off for River Forest families.

Partial-day Spanish language, Mandarin language, and Little World Travelers cultural classes in English

  • For ages 3.5-6 years.
  • Transport provided from River Forest schools and Garfield Elementary in Forest Park.
  • Classes can be combined for custom schedules for your family.

World Travelers Camps

  • For ages 3.5-10 years.
  • Summer, Winter Break, Spring Break, snow days, and Institute Day Camps.
  • River Forest children can be picked up at Lincoln Elementary and dropped off at home at end of day.

Language classes currently offered

  • Family Mandarin; children’s French and Spanish; adult Greek, Turkish, Mandarin, Spanish and French.
  • Weekly free Spanish story time (starting September 2019).
World Explorers Summer Camp 2019 Academia’s Summer Camp offers a fun exploration of societies, cultures, and ecology around the world, combined with outdoor fun and games in the sun!   Age 3.5 -10 years. Check out videos below from last year’s fun or click here for more information.

Open House

Academia holds a weekly Open House most Sundays, 10:00am – 11:00am,  for anyone interested in touring the space and asking questions about any of the programs offered. Children are particularly welcome!
